CU Global Activity List for Alumni

Norris WONG Yee-lam (UC/Biology) is a Hong Kong novelist, songwriter, screenwriter, and director. She made her feature length directorial debut with My Prince Edward (2019), for which she won the Award for Best New Director and was nominated for Best Screenplay at the 39th Hong Kong Film Awards. Together with deputy director Ya LEUNG Yat-nga (UC/Journalism and Communication), Norris’s latest film The Lyricist Wannabe tells the story of aspiring lyricist and high-school student who works night and day to master the art of writing Cantopop. The lyrics of the film’s soundtrack were composed by Norris herself and sang by TSE Nga-yi (WYS/Social Work).

“The Alumni Association of the Department of Biology, CUHK” and “Wu Yee Sun College Alumni Association” will hold a screening of The Lyricist Wannabe and post-screening discussion in February. All proceeds will be donated to the CUHK 60th Anniversary Artistic Talent Development Fund with a tentative target of subsidising students with aspirations in music, arts and cultural management to take part in summer internship or overseas exchange programmes to lay a solid foundation in their respective professions.
